Finally... Something New!

So I have been working on it for the past two weeks, and finally this afternoon I finished my first flash website, or part of a website, or whatever you want to call it... If you have no idea what I'm talking about check out the new "Portfolio" section of the site... This section is intended to help me build and visualize what will hopefully soon become my final "book" that I can actually get some paid work from... So take a look at it, some of the photos are not featured anywhere else on the site... I'm not totally happy with the layout and design of the section, but I will do my best to make it better as I learn more about flash and how to use it. I have some great idea's for more content and features on the site, so those will be coming hopefully in the near future...

As always, I hope this finds you well, go take some photos... Take care!

Summer Sun

Well... Its officially summer for me, it has been for about a week or so now... I've been struggling to get out and shoot the weather hasn’t been the best in the past week... I hate rainy days, I feel like I'm getting something done when I'm outside shooting and I haven’t been able to for days now... But the summer is still young and I can't wait for what’s to come!

I have been working on learning flash the past few days; it's some crazy stuff... I'm trying to get my portfolio together so I can make a nice flash gallery... So look for that in the coming weeks... As for the writings I have been talking about the past few entries I'm not too sure if I will produce, I'm not sure the topics that I have been working on are that important to me anymore... But you never know, I still want something new and cool for the site, so ill have to cook up something sweet if I don’t end up finishing them... Suggestions are always welcome; just shoot me an email if you have some cool ideas…

So on and on it goes, I have been spending a lot of my time with someone very special to me lately... She keeps me distracted from a lot of things going on in my life, in good ways and in bad.... She tells me I do the same to her... So I guess I cant feel guilty... Pumpkin pie...

So I guess that’s all for now, I'm very excited to start improving the site this summer... SO BE READY!

It's All Over... For now...

Well, you all have probably noticed my lack of blogs lately on the main page... I have been working 20 hours (at least) a day for the past two weeks on my final presentation for my architectural studio class... It went off well; the jurors seemed to really be blown away by my presentation so I‘m hoping my grades reflect that... I am now nearly done with school and will continue working along side one of the best photographers of all time Dan Lippitt for the summer...

I'm tired, it’s going to take me a few days to recover from all of this... I will do all I can to return emails and the huge backlog of blog stuff I have been slacking on... Im terribly excited about what's to come this summer... I have met some very special people as of late and am excited to share my adventures with them, with you... I have not forgotten about the new additions to the site and will start work on them again early next week...

So keep checking back, I will have so much to share with all of you very very soon... Keep shooting; keep coming by, everyone of my visitor’s means so much to me!

I swear I'm working on it... I swear...

Well, it’s been awhile since I posted anything on this part of the site... So for those who actually read this section I'm sorry... I have been working as much as I can on getting the writings (formally known as "Lessons" which will now be called "Ramblings") up and running... I have decided to open with three "Ramblings" to get a feel of how people like them and to see if there is any real interest in them... I’m not sure what the three will be, but I have three bodies that I have been working on in mind, My Take on B&W Film Developing, Top 10 Reasons Film is Still King and Photography vs. Digital Art/ Surrealism... I have the format all set up and ready to go, It will be ran on Movable Type so all my readers can voice their own opinions about the topics... It should be pretty fucking sweet so please check back and spread the word...

On a personal note School is still owning my life, as it always does... I'm working on making some serious changes in my life so we'll see how that goes... The weather is getting warmer and I'm rediscovering my digital cameras as a result... I'm not really sure why the warm weather has brought out the digital age in me... They are pretty cool tools, but I still love shooting film...

Adobe has recently released Lightroom V1.0, which is pretty freaking sweet... I never thought I would move to a raw workflow, but I confess I now have... Lightroom is just amazing and might just take over its big brother one day... Shhhhhhhh, I didn’t say that! On that note I'll segway on to CS3, which I'm currently using the beta of... Not that different, and the sad thing is I have found I can do things in Lightroom that I cant in CS3, which is kind of idiotic to me, I don’t always work with a digital camera so I’m not always working through Lightroom in my workflow... Who knows, you might be able to do it in the full release, or even the beta I just haven’t found out how yet... We will see where it all goes in the next year or two, but my bet is on Lightroom, or maybe a combined program of sorts...

So I'll write soon, I promise, and until then take a look at and read my blogs... I have some great stuff in store for the site and even bigger and better ideas are sure to follow... As always I hope this finds you well!

The Day's Are Never Long Enough

Oh man, School has been owning my life this week... Monday was horrible, I should have never woke up... Lets just say my two tests didn’t go so well... I have been up for 20 hours working on boards due in my Interior Design class tomorrow, and yet I’m still missing a key piece that is due... Needless to say it’s not going to get done... Spring break starts Friday and I can't wait until I can breathe again... Two more days, just two more days...

As the site goes I haven’t had a chance to work anymore on the "Lessons" I talked about in my last post... I'm actually thinking about changing their titles to "Ramblings", that name seems like it would fit much better to the type of things I will be writing about and presenting...

In other news, I have decided to do a photography exercise where I choose one camera and one lens and shoot with it for a month (learned it from Bob @ no traces)... So starting Sunday I will be shooting my Leica M6 with the 35mm lens on it... I have grown to love shooting film and just can't get enough... I bought an Ansel Adams book that is all about negatives, how they work, and how to develop and process them... It seems pretty awesome from what I have read of it so I’m excited to try some of the stuff I learn out while I'm doing this exercise...

Keep checking back there is some cool stuff in store in the coming days and weeks… Thank you to all of those who do visit my site, give me comments and show me love, it means the world to me to hear from all of you… I might not always be able to return the favor but I want you all to know that I appreciate it!

The Start of Something New

Well welcome to a new section of The Crimson Ribbon! I will be posting blogs, or “Journals”, whenever I feel the need to update the world about happenings on the site, my life and everything in between.

I have a bunch of new stuff in store for the site, this “Journal” being one of them. I will also be writing a collection of essays that I will call "Lessons" which cover all sorts of topics, the first of which is titled "Photography or Digital Art?” and talks about what real photography is, verses the manipulated digital photos often being considered photographs in today’s digital world. They are coming out to be rather opinionated and mostly written through the eyes of myself as a photographer rather then proven facts. They will be posted in a blog-type format that will allow you, the visitors, to comment and voice your own opinions, good, bad or whatever! So look for all that soon and bear with me as I try to get everything up and running!

School has been taking a heavy toll on me, so updates in the next week or so might be few and far between. I’ll update whenever I have the time, most my work on the site lately has been behind the scenes, which will soon become apparent once I get all the new sections up! My spring break starts next Friday, I’m hoping to have everything finished by then so I can work on adding content to all the new sections while I have some time off.

So thank you to all my visitors, hopefully this will be the beginning of something really cool. Remember to check back for updates every once in awhile; you never know when I might get a few hours to finish everything up. So keep coming back, I hope this finds you well…
